Lately, the opening phrase for most conversations I've had has been "how're your wedding preparations coming along?".
It's interesting how the whole event of being wedded has become such a big money-making industry. Weddings are once-in-a-lifetime events that people are willing to "invest" in. It is not so much the expertise of makeovers, photography and couture dresses that they are "investing" in, but rather the emotions and memories to mark good start to a hopefully happy marriage.
What is equally, if not more important, though, is the preparation for marriage - the long haul thing.
For Ern and I, this has all been a pretty natural progression. We both shared similar views of marriage and were willing to work this for the long haul when we got into the relationship. And so, throughout our eight-year courtship, we've both grown to adapt, compromise and complement each other. That's a pretty long time to prepare for marriage. After all, a successful relationship is not about finding the right person, but being the right person. And adaptation takes time and sacrifice.
And so, with five days to go to till we're wedded, I have to say I'm pretty excited and not at all anxious. As with all events, despite detailed planning, if things could go wrong, they probably would. And what else would there be do to, but to laugh about it.
Here's to a love-filled, joyful wedding and marriage.
See y'all there!

Congrats Janice!
ReplyDeleteHappy for you both :) And don't worry...if things go wrong, the best assurance is to know that you married the right person hehe It'll all be well! See you then and may the good Lord who joined your hearts be with you, bless you and guide you in this new journey.
