Local Indulgences

After more than four months without decent char kuey teow last Saturday's lunch at Tiam Fatt was heaven. Ernest and I openly indulged (he too hadn't had this in a while) the uncle's delightful plate of char kuey teow. It's a welcomed change to have this with light sauce and not dark sauce!

What you just saw above is none other than Kin Kin's famous chilli pan mee. Situated in one of the lorongs (turn left at Pizza Hut) along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kin Kin is the one and only that tastes just right. They are so confident about their product, they only have one size - take it for leave it. So, often, Ernest and I share three bowls among us.

The homemade noodles are cooked just right, not too soggy. Ikan bilis served crispy. Poached egg done to perfection. Minced meat mixed in with...the best part - chee yeow char (crispy pork fat). The most important ingredient is the dried chilli, of course.

It was a sinfully delicious visit home, thanks to Ernest for feeding my cravings.
